Welcome to Sylvia & Bill's orchid site
|
Bill takes orchid photographs and originally used these to illustrate the
natural variation in selected species of orchid. As many of the
visitors to this website are from other countries it was decided to alter the
scope of the website to terrestrial orchids and tropical orchids with their cultivars and hybrids. This
part of the website will be developed and expanded for some time to come, in
a style similar to the one that Bill has used for the Hardy Orchid Society
website.
Sylvia paints stylized orchidaceous landscapes. These will be permanent residents of the site, and will increase in number.
There is also a screen saver, at the foot of this page, which may be downloaded free of charge.
This web site has been designed for High colour mode (16 bit) at a resolution of 1024 x 768, as a compromise between quality and down-load time. Internet Explorer 5.5 was used as the browser. If you can't see the links below the title please update your browser to a more recent version of Internet Explorer e.g. 5.5 or Netscape Navigator e.g. 4.6. The copyright of all photographs is retained by the photographer.
We hope that you will enjoy, or have enjoyed your visit to our web site and that you will revisit after the next update. Our E mail addresses are included in the LINKS page.

If you want to make an orchid screensaver, using your own photographs, we can recommend the screen saver below - it will automatically scale photographs to the display resolution in use each time that it is activated. If you want to use an image save it to a folder that contains only photographs to be used by the screen saver (I created a folder called C:\sspics). You may save as many photographs as you wish, the screen saver will alternate these as per the settings. There is an updated free screen saver on Gianpaulo's website http://www.bottin.com , this is compatible with Windows XP.
Instructions for Windows 98SE or XP - After saving the pictures that you want and the screensaver, left click on the START button at the bottom left of the screen, point the mouse to SETTINGS, move the mouse to CONTROL PANEL and left click on it, double left click on DISPLAY, left click on SCREENSAVER at the top of the window, select Gphotoshow as the screensaver and type in the name of the folder where you stored the photographs. After selecting the change time and clicking OK the screen saver should be operational. It can be previewed from that window. You can add any images from this site IF YOU ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST, or add photographs of your own, neither the screensaver nor the photographs may be used for commercial purposes without permission from us and the writer of the screensaver.
